Upcoming Programs

We welcome you to join us Sundays at 10:30 a.m. as we gather upstairs in the Grants Pass Museum of Art 229 SW G St. in Grants Pass, Oregon (see MAP)

Unitarian Universalism is composed of people with diverse beliefs, needs, and gifts. Our services are designed to reflect this diversity.

♪The hymn of the month is #298: “Wake Now, My Senses”

March 7 “Are UUs Christian?” with Rev. Brad Carrier
Both the Unitarian and Universalist origins of our current religion started out within a Christian context, disagreeing with the orthodox position over scriptural issues. We were declared heretics, which fits, for “heretic” comes from a root word meaning “to choose.” Whether we should still be called Christian depends on what Christianity means now. Who matters more on this, Paul or Jesus?
Please remember Hunger Project Sunday; bring food for homeless teens

March 14 “Dream of a Common Language” with Rev. Fred Keip
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME begins —‘spring forward’ your clocks Saturday night
While the human race may never achieve a common oral/printed language, there is a language already existing that is common to all. “Aw, come on!,” says Fred, ”if I revealed it here, I’d lose the element of surprise.” We’ll have continental breakfast for you if you skipped breakfast to get here.

March 21 “Sustaining the Spirit with Poetry in Hard Times” with Lawson Inada
Lawson Inada, Poet Laureate of Oregon, Emeritus Professor of Writing at SOU, and a third generation Japanese American. He will speak to the ways deeper meanings can be found in life’s commonplace happenings, and consider how they can be a path to poetry.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH OFFERING today benefits the Veterans For Peace “Straight Talk” program, offering information about military enlistment to high school students that recruiters do not reveal.

March 28 “Becoming Unitarian Universalist” with Rev. Margaret Keip and Marian Kraai
If faith is a journey rather than a destination all of us here are sojourners on this path of open mind and heart. This morning is designed both to orient our newcomers and renew all of us long-timers engaged in this way of faith we travel. There will be opportunity to sign our membership book, but it will be after the service. There will be no pressure to join; so if you have friends you believe may find a home here, it will be a good Sunday to invite them to visit. Bring ‘em with you.
